At 53, Lorna Jane Clarkson could easily pass for a woman half her age.
So what are the health and beauty secrets that keep her looking and feeling fabulous?
Ahead
of the launch of her new book Eat Good Food, Lorna sat down exclusively
with FEMAIL to talk about her day on a plate, the beauty products she
swears by and why there is no substitute for seven or eight hours sleep.
'I can get by on barely any sleep, but I see it writ all over my face when I don't,' she told Daily Mail Australia.
'My skin looks instantly less plump.'

While Lorna is a firm believer
in the 'everything in moderation' approach to food, she also believes
that it's what you do everyday that amounts to good health, sharing her
day on a plate
LORNA'S DAY ON A PLATE
While
Lorna is a firm believer in the 'everything in moderation' approach to
food, she also believes that it's what you do everyday that amounts to
good health:
'For instance, I'll start every morning with a glass of water before I even get out of bed.
'Then, I'll drink a glass of water with some lemon juice and cayenne pepper when I get up.'
The
53-year-old activewear mogul said she works out first thing, which
she'll often do before eating breakfast if it's something like yoga.
If she's doing cardio, Lorna will have a smoothie comprising cold brew coffee, chocolate protein powder and frozen banana.
'I eat breakfast around 10 or 11am when I'm done working out,' Lorna said.
'This will either be something like overnight oats or a frittata with lots of greens and leftover vegetables at the weekend.
'Lunch
is late - around 2pm, and it's normally eaten at my desk answering
emails. It will typically be a salad with some form of protein and
slow-release carbs in it. This winter, I've also been adding a soup.'
The 53-year-old always has to
eat dessert - favouring dark chocolate or a bliss ball - and she will
drink lavender water before bed, which, she said, helps with sleep
Previously Lorna Jane shared a
look inside her fridge(pictured), which is filled with healthy produce -
she told FEMAIL pantry staples include nuts and nut butters, fruit and
veggies
In the afternoon, to perk herself up, Lorna said she'll snack on nuts or a homemade bliss ball.
'For
dinner, I typically have something like pan-fried salmon with roasted
vegetables and Brussels sprouts. Dessert will be a bliss ball or dark
chocolate with a peppermint or licorice tea.
'I also love lavender water before I go to bed - I find it really helps me to sleep.'
While she doesn't do cheat days per se, Lorna said that if she craves a food, she will 'find a healthy way to make it'.
There are plenty of healthy 'cheat' alternatives in her new book, including a tempeh BLT sandwich.
Aside from lavender water for
uninterrupted sleep, Lorna (pictured) swears by essential oils -
especially peppermint, which she carries in her handbag for an energy
pick-me-up
The 53-year-old is also a fan of feremnted foods, as well as The Beauty Chef products (pictured right in fridge)
LORNA'S QUIRKY HEALTH HABITS
Aside
from lavender water for uninterrupted sleep, Lorna said she swears by
essential oils - especially peppermint, which she carries in her
handbag:
'I carry an edible peppermint essential oil in my handbag, which I put a drop of on my wrist,' she said.
'I know it's weird but I find it really lifts me and gives me energy. It also clears out your whole sinuses.'
Lorna said she is also a fan of fermented foods, which she has adopted into her diet more and more in recent years.
'I swear by The Beauty Chef products,' she added.
LORNA'S BEAUTY ROUTINE
Lorna Jane Clarkson's new book, Eat Good Food (pictured), is out now
When it comes to beauty, the 53-year-old is no-fuss in her approach.
'I'm really low maintenance,' Lorna said.
'Every morning I wash my face with coconut oil, before I apply a Vitamin C serum and SPF and tinted moisturiser.
'The
evenings are similar. Cleansing is imperative, then a richer cream is
applied before I apply a lavender night cream by Dermalogica right
before I go to bed. I'll also put on eye cream religiously and
moisturise my hands each night, because they are starting to show signs
of ageing.
'Twice a week, I'll
exfoliate and do a mask - either by Kate Spade or Dermalogica. I try and
go to bed around 9pm or 9.30, as I'm normally up by 5am.'
Lorna Jane's new book, Eat Good Food, is out July 9. For more information, please click here.
